Oh! I can't tell you how many times I have started this blog and how many times I have been interrupted to tend to something else - it never ends, does it!? Ha! So, while my kids are watching a new movie - freshly bathed with full tummies, I figured there is no better time then now to update what's been going on with all of us ..
As busy as our lives have been, we are busy doing the same things we always do - school, work, sports, scouts, dance, activities, etc .. it seems as quickly as one thing ends, another begins. Jamie and I have agreed that as hectic as things often get around here, we wouldn't change anything - we want the kids to be involved and we like that they have been exposed to so many different things. Keeping up wih it all is the hard part!
I know I say this alot, but we are good. The kids are good, Jamie and I are good, we're all good. Now, to be a little more specific: David just brought home a straight A report card! He's been having an awesome 4th grade year and we promised him tickets to the Blue Man Group if he keeps his straight A's until the end of the school year .. these grades of his earned him $30! Not from us, from his generous grandparents. He is really starting to grasp an understanding on money and the value it holds. He's even started his own business - although it doesn't have an official name, it has been quite lucrative for him. So far, he and a friend have made about $65 selling golfballs! Yep, that's right. They sit at the end of our street where all of the golfers have to cross and sell used, clean, balls to them .. he's enjoyed having his own money and it's been fun watching him think about what to do with it. He's a good kid, slightly air-headed but overall, we couldn't ask for more from him.
Abby is pushing four and a half and we're keeping our fingers crossed that this new leaf she seems to have turned is actually going to stick! Ha! She is using her manners, playing nice (most of the time) with David and Molly, and doing things she is asked to do when we ask them .. I'd like to give ourselves the credit for all the change we have been seeing, but I have to give credit where credit is due and that goes to Ms Jaime. You may recognize that name - she works with Molly, she is her behavior therapist. She gave us helpful tips on how to "tame" Abby and so far, they're working! Right now, Abby is working on earning a trip to Chuck E Cheese - she does this by earning a sticker at the end of the day; stickers are earned for good behavior, good listening, respect, that sort of thing. We're four weeks in and it's working like a charm :) Besides that, she is learning how to read and loves school even more then she did when she started - how that's even possible, I don't know! She is still in dance (loving that too!) and is very excited about being on stage next month for her recital .. Abby is quite a character and full of spunk - we have said that since the day she arrived!
Molly is our sweet, little girl. At least when she wants to be! She is working wth Ms Jaime and her speech therapist every week and while we could do without a lot of her screaming, she is making a lot of progress! She is saying so much more and is also starting to understand so much more, it's a nice change. She still has quite a ways to go before she is caught up with her peers, but seeing the changes in her helps us see a light at the end of the tunnel. We have been back and forth on whether or not to put her in preschool and have finally decided that it's what is best for her .. because of her language/speech delay, she will attend a preschool within the Seminole County school district that specializes in developmental delays and she'll most likely start at the end of September after she turns three. She has to have an evaluation which will be done mid August and then, we'll find out more details. This was not an easy decision for us to make, but at this point, we are willing to try all options that will help Molly. She is still going to My Gym and she absolutely loves her time there! Her obsession with Barney has grown and now, thanks to her nana, she has a Barney doll that she totes with her just about everywhere! It's cute .. Molly has definitely been our most challenging child and the fact that she is the sweetest and most lovable of the three is beyond me :)
I think that's just about it .. hopefully next time, it won't be so long!
