Change is inevitable ...

I promised myself I would get better about keeping my blog updated - this originally started as a way for our friends and family to peek into our lives and stay in the loop as to what has been going on. Now, I feel like it's almost essential to record our doings as I am learning, the older I get, the quicker I am  forgetting things! I harldy remember what I did yesterday, let alone last week or even a month ago! Ha!

My family keeps me busy! It seems as if the past couple of months flew by in the blink of an eye! It makes me a little sad to think that my kids are growing up - I know that's what happens and I have always tried to accept and enjoy the stage they're in, but the reality is that there is going to come a day when they're not going to need or even want all of my attention all of the time. Jamie and I have talked about having a fourth baby, it's always been part of our plan .. but while neither one of us want to make any final decisions, we're both leaning more towards no. For me, wanting to have another baby is to simply to have a baby - some day that little guy will grow up and I'll be back to square one. We agreed to talk about it in 6 months and see how we feel then - we'll see.

Thirty has been quite a year for me and I don't mean that in a bad way! I wouldn't say this has been the best year for me; however, I have gotten to know myself better then I ever have and I have learned a lot about me. These new found revelations have really had a great impact, not only on me, but my family and my friends. I feel like I have a different, a new outlook on life and it's very refreshing!

Now, about the kids - the 3 little people that keep me going day in and day out. They're doing great!

David - he's dying to play football! Flag football, that is .. he'll be wrapping up basketball in a few weeks and with the school year starting to wind down, most of his extra activities will be coming to an end too - what will we do with our time!?! Ha! He's such a great kid, I can't say that enough - he really does love just about everything and he's starting to "graduate" from kid stuff and is more interested in "grown up" stuff .. he even has a girlfriend!! Her name is Megan, they were classmates last year - he is so shy about it, he rarely talks to her - come to think of it, he says he's not even sure how he became her boyfriend. He said and I quote "she just told a bunch of people we were boyfriend/girlfriend so I guess we are" Ha! Ahhh, the innocence of elementary love - this kid has a lot to learn!

Abby - what can I say about her? She's Abby, that's for sure! Jamie and I have always said that she has a spunk to her and she definitely does! As the middle child, we thought she would be more of the compromising child, but she is far from that - as my mom pointed out to the two of us, Abby is the most strong willed of the kids - she knows what she wants and that's it. She is proven to be somewhat of a challenge on most days and while I feel like I am constantly on her for something, I am hoping my consistency will eventually wear her down. Let's hope! I love her to pieces though and she is sweet - when she wants to be. She says the funniest things .. let me think .. ok, here are a few: when playing Candyland with us, she asked if she could take a haircut! (shortcut) Ha! I asked her if she wanted to get her ears pierced (again!?!) and she said "no, she didn't want any pine needles in her ear" .. hmm, what else? She is determined to get David to accept her marriage proposal and when asked what kind of car she wants, she tells us she wants our old van so she can be a mommy. Laughter is one thing I can always count on from her!

Molly - she really is our sweet child, almost always. Even though she isn't talking as good as a lot of her peers, she is definitely trying! She says all sorts of things and if you're around her enough, you will know what she is saying. She's a very curious little girl and it's fun watching her mind work .. she loves, loves, loves playing outside, especially in the water and she is more in love with her stuffed animals than she's ever been. How that's even possible, I don't know! I'm almost positive that she'll be starting preschool this fall - a decision that we've come to after months of talking about it .. she actually has an evaluation next month to determine if her language delay still warrants additional therapy - if so, we have the option of putting her into a preschool within the school system where she'll continue to receive speech therapy. Another option is for her to go to Grace (where Abby goes) and we pay for speech on our own. Decisions, decisions - we'll find out more once the evaluation is done .. until then, no need to worry about it!

The kids and I are taking a road trip in a few weeks - should be interesting. We are going to see Sandy and the kids - I miss them so much!!! I am looking forward to it! It helps that my mom is going with me - I don't know if I can handle being in the car with all of the kids by myself for 7 hours!? It'll be fun :)

You know I love quotes! "If you don't like something, change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it" - Mary Englebreit

Don't count every hour in the day; make every hour in the day count

Hmmm, what have we been up to the past few weeks?! Everything! Where should I start?

David - he's 10!!!!! I cannot even believe it! We spent the day celebrating this monumental birthday at Universal Studios, we had a great time! Let me back up - the day before his birthday, we were supposed to have a small get together at the house with cake and ice cream. Didn't happen. He woke up complaining his belly hurt and then - bam! Puked all over the place!?!? Poor guy. Needless to say, we cancelled the Friday night celebration and luckily, he woke up the next morning feeling much better .. he's doing great in school, as usual :) Just brought home a report card - all A's!!!! He's hooked on the Diary of a Whimpy Kid series and has read every single one of the books in it, including the movie book! David loves reading, always has .. basketball season is underway (8 weeks left) and we thought once it ended, he'd play baseball again but he informed us that he's rather give flag football a try - he said and I quote "I'm already good at soccer and baseball, I want to see how good I am at football"  They've been playing it in school which is where the interest came from .. David's definitely a busy boy! Last week, his scout troop visited a local sharing center which provides food, clothing, toiletries, etc .. to people in need - I love that they have trips like this, we feel it's important to learn that not everyone has it as easy as we do .. it's a good reminder for us to be grateful for the things we have and to stop complaining about what we don't. We're so proud of David, he is involved in so many activities/programs - he does his best in all of them ..

Abby - she has been asking a lot of questions lately - why this, why that, how does this work, who is that, what does this mean, etc .. I love her curiosity!! We have been working on rhyming words and now, she tries to rhyme everything she can, it's cute :) We asked her if she was ready to start reading and we think she's just about there - maybe within the next couple of weeks, she'll know some words! She knows how to spell quite a few things: mom, dad, molly, her own name, stop, and sometimes david .. she's so smart!!! Abby loves school and her favorite job there is being in charge of the calendar. Next year, she'll be a part of the VPK program and will be going to school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays - she has a good handful of kids that are in her class now that will also be going the same days as her which will be nice. She said that everyone in her class is her friend, except for the 3 boys - she says she doesn't like them. Wonder how long that will last! Ha! Recently, she has outgrown just about her entire wardrobe and she asked me if she could grow her hair like the girl in the movie Tangled aka Rapunzel .. I love the way she thinks about things and how she sees this world - she is full of energy and loves everything!

Molly - she is our sweet girl and lately, we can't get enough of her! Thanks to Ms Jaime, this child has been transformed!! She is talking so much more or at least attempting to - if you're around her enough, you can actually understand a lot of what she is saying .. in addition to behavior therapy, Molly is also receiving speech therapy - we met her new therapist last week. I will admit, I'm not in love with this woman, but I am hoping that she'll grow on me and as long as she is helping my daughter, she's in :) "Thank you" is probably what Molly says most - she'll tell you that for absolutely everything, it's cute! She has been doing My Gym once a week for the past few weeks and loves it! I'm so glad we chose to do this for her! She also loves to climb, jump on the trampoline, sit on the dog, and slam doors - ahh, a 2 year old! She's a lot of fun and just likes being around people .. she's still hooked on her stuffed animals and Yo Gabba Gabba - those songs get stuck in my head!!

As for Jamie and me - we are busy, working parents. I think our weekend away in April is officiall!!! and it can't come soon enough! It's been a long stretch of weeks for the both of us and we could use the break!!! We're supposed to have date night on Tuesday although we can't decide what to do - we have it down to either the Magic game or a movie at the Enzian (cool place with a restaurant and small bar) Either way, I know we'll have a good time - we always do!

I think that's it - our life is pretty much like everyone else's. Same stuff, different day. Just about everything I do is for our kids, everything. I don't mind though, they're my life :)  Until next time ...
